Puerto Rico: Gaming Commission presents new slot machine regulation

The official explained that the Regulations for the Issuance, Management and Supervision of Licenses for Online Gambling Machines, filed on Friday, were tempered with Law 42-2024, authored by Representative José Rivera Madera and signed by the governor. on February 7th. Said statute in turn contains the most recent amendments integrated into Law 11 of August 22, 1933, as amended, known as the Gaming Machines Law.

According to the interim executive director of the Commission, the regulation incorporates the amendments provided in Law 42-2024, referring to regulating the cost per license and the distribution of its income; regulate the number of gambling machines per business and their prizes; regulate the distribution of income generated by gambling machines and establish the period in which wholesale owners will be able to pay in full for the machine licenses to which they are entitled.

Santaella Marchán also indicated that the provision related to the payment of at least 50 percent of the income from the games to retired members of the Puerto Rico Police was integrated, and provides that the Legislature must evaluate the regulations.

Santaella Marchán notified the executive director of the Fiscal Control Board (JCF), Robert Mujica Jr., of compliance with the presentation of the regulations to the Legislative Assembly, as it was a matter related to the income and expenditure of the treasury. This entity has been immersed in the process of evaluating and analyzing the impact of the amendments made by the Legislature to Law 11 of August 22, 1933, supra.
